When he realized schools are teaching less and less print while designers are desperate to learn it, he created Print Design Academy to fill that gap. He teaches in-house design teams how to design for print and packaging, hosts The Print Design Podcast and The Quickie Podcast (over 300 episodes), and specializes in making print education engaging and entertaining. Basically, he’s made it his mission to keep the print industry alive by teaching the people who keep us in business.
Stop Waiting, Start Teaching: Taking Control of Print Education
The print industry is facing a quiet crisis: designers are learning less about print in schools, yet the industry’s survival depends on young designers who understand it. Here’s the thing—all creatives LOVE print and packaging, they just don’t know how to do it. What if we stopped waiting and became the educators ourselves? What would that look like? P.S. We have 4,000 reasons why we know designers are desperate to learn. And do you want to hire young creative talent? Reimagining Communication in The New Age of Print
In today’s competitive landscape, many print companies and sector professionals continue to chase stability by doing the same thing better or the wrong thing better. The sector is stagnated by the continuing recycling and refining of traditional approaches that are fundamentally misaligned with current and changing market demands. It’s time to rethink not just business and career strategies, but the antiquated communication methods we rely on to differentiate our services, build trust, and demonstrate value.
This session will explore how we can collectively reframe our communication strategies—both verbal and written—to create a shared sense of purpose, foster meaningful relevancy and build a sense of competitive urgency that drives measurable business results. The goal is not just to sell products or services, but to earn the credibility and trust to help customers solve real problems and achieve their objectives.
Minto’s presentation will introduce proven concepts, real-world case studies, and actionable strategies designed to help print sector professionals craft compelling, customized narratives in response to common questions from clients, colleagues, and key stakeholders. These approaches will also support broader community goals related to social purpose and environmental leadership.
