PrintForward Government Affairs Activity 2019 Update:
There are a number of issues which continue to challenge the printing industry along with other manufacturers and businesses in British Columbia. For example, one of these includes the issue of the new Extended Health Tax (EHT) that shifts the collection of MSP premiums to employers. PrintForward has joined with other manufacturing and businesses affected through the Northwest Industries Association (formerly known as the BC Alliance for Manufacturing) to lobby the province on this issue. On such issues, it is beneficial to join with other to build a stronger advocacy position. PrintForward is a founding member of the Northwest Industries Association.
Additional items affecting the printing industry on which the Government Affairs Committee is working include:
- Developing entry level training programs to assist in finding qualified candidates.
- Accessing value-added opportunities through affinity programs to help our members reach a positive bottom line.
- Monitoring government policy and regulation changes which could affect the printing industry.
Our Committee will keep PrintForward members informed regarding our advocacy initiatives. If there are any issues, you would like the Government Affairs Committee to explore, please contact Jacquie McBain, Executive Director.
